Ooh, there are lots of attractions that are pretty close to home that are still on my bucket list. In fact, as I am writing this, I am asking myself what is really stopping me from ticking at least some of them off this year??? Feels like a new goal is brewing…
Giba Gorge
This is a beautiful nature reserve that has a mountain bike park as well as hiking trails. They have a restaurant, although I think there are also picnic sites. It’s about a 40-minute drive from my home, so it’s not too far away. My friends and I have planned a hike in the next week or two, and I am really hoping we do go.
Hello hello! Welcome back! I had to check the dictionary to ensure that my definition of fun fits the description. Fun is defined as “enjoyment, amusement, or light-hearted pleasure.” I do pretty average stuff for fun.
1. Read
This is my favourite thing in the world to do. I love sci-fi, mysteries, spy novels and historical dramas. I have bought a few African-authored novels to read this year and am currently reading Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as a start. I hope to get through at 4-5 this year.
2. Visiting new places
I don’t do this often enough. It’s also the one thing that my son will most likely give his games up for. He also enjoys exploring new spaces and having new experiences. It feels like it broadens our perspective and experience of the world we live in.
3. Walking
My friend and I try to walk in her neighbourhood at least once weekly. She has the hills to challenge us and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. We are often awed by the stunning sunsets we witness every week. No two sunsets are ever the same.

4. Spending time with friends and loved ones
I find nothing more soothing for my soul than spending quality time in the company of my friends and family. I feel anchored. I feel loved, and I feel at peace when I am with them.
5. Spending time with the cats
They entertain me with their array of personalities and the antics they get up to. They are a real blessing when my son goes away because I can focus on looking after them rather than wallow in the fact that I am missing my child.

There are other things I enjoy doing as well, like playing Scrabble online, doing crosswords and sudoku, listening to and dancing to music, etc.
Hi There. I have missed two bloganuary posts this weekend. 😱 I was on holiday, and I was so exhausted at the end of those two days. I will acknowledge it and, accept it and move on swiftly. Right, now that I have that out of my system, on to today’s topic. I think I would turn the topic around and would wish I could understand their meows
Mamacita: 1st of her name. Mother of Gorgeous Kittens. + one of her kittens
Sometimes, it is clear that they really need to get me to do something for them, but I don’t understand Meow, and I get so frustrated. The mother cat is very good at using her eyes to get me to follow her so that she can show me something. She is so good at communicating that she even got a neighbour to help her look for a kitten when it went missing. He was so shocked that he understood her. Meow Meow is good at letting me know that there is another cat at the door that wants to come in, or that a kitten has messed in the house or, if ask him where one of the cats are, he will alert me when they come in. He is such an incredible soul. Russell is nauseatingly good at letting me know when it is suppertime 😂
The other cats haven’t figured out how to get through to me. They will look at me and meow, hoping I will understand. I will check their food and water, but that is seldom the issue. It is so clear that they are trying to get me to do something, but I have no idea what. So, if I could understand one thing about my pet, it would definitely be Meow.
If you had to flip the prompt around, what would your response be?
