Celebrating 2023: A Month of Gratitude – Day 19

5 days to Christmas and I have only purchased 1 gift so far! I have a lot more to be grateful for though.

Hi Again. There are 5 days to Christmas and I have only bought one Christmas present. Talk about putting myself under pressure! I will get there eventually though. I always do. How is your Christmas shopping going? I hope it’s better than mine.

The thing I am most grateful for today is that my son has reached his first destination safely. He has one more leg to go in a few days time. I know he is going to have a really good Christmas but I will definitely miss him every day.

Today I had a very good stakeholder meeting at work. As I mentioned last week, I have had been offered a cool opportunity at work. I didn’t realise at all how cool it was (well at least to me) until today’s meeting. I feel like I have been preparing for this opportunity for a while now and I didn’t quite realise it. I was really just reading books and articles that really interested me with the intention to implement everything I learnt but no-one else has been in the same space. I have felt like I have been trying to push people up a hill so that they can get to the summit and see what see and it has been exhausting.  Now I have the opportunity to lead a team in the same direction. It will still be exhausting but it will be a very different type of exhaustion if that makes sense. I am so excited and very grateful. I am also very nervous as I have never been give this level of responsibility before. I can only thank God for bringing me to this and I need to trust that He will lead me through it.

2024 is going to be a wonderful challenge and I look forward to the person I will be at the end of it. What challenges and opportunities are you looking forward to in 2024? Let me know in the comments.

31 Days of Gratitude – Day 25

Well, another Christmas is done and dusted. I must admit that I missed my son today but I am glad he had a good time with his Dad’s side of th efamily. I* can start counting down the days until he is home again. It won’t be long 🙂

I had a good Christmas with my family. It was filled with good food and great company :). I also stopped to see my cousin on the way home. Time with her is always treasured. Since I don’t believe in coincidences, this could only be the Universe at play. I had ordered a keyboard for my computer but the supplier couldn’t fulfil the order and my order was cancelled. Little did I know that my sister had bought me the one that I was admiring the last time we went shopping. 😁 I got my keyboard anyway! It was an awesome surprise!

I woke up to a storm about 5 this morning and it has rained on and off ever since. It’s been raining non-stop this evening so I guess we may have some flooding tomorrow. I am just grateful that I was able to drive from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in the rain without incident. There was so much water on the road. It was pretty scary. I am also grateful that my dad made it home safely too.

I hope that you all have had a really good Christmas as well. The countdown to the New Year begins. 7 days to wrap up this year and make it count if you haven’t already or to take the time to decide what your intention for 2023 is. Either way, I wish every success with it. Chat again tomorrow.

31 Days of Gratitude – Day 24

It’s 70 mins to Christmas as I write this. It’s my last Christmas in my 40’s.😜 It doesn’t bother me though. I am really looking forward to my 50’s because I know that it will be my best decade yet! Knowing how many people who were my age or younger that passed from covid over the last 2 years and knowing that my son’s dad was only 43 when he passed from a heart attack, I see it is as an absolute blessing and privilage to reach this new milestone. I am so grateful to be here right now.

Messing around today when I realised it was my last Christmas in my 40’s

I missed yesterday’s post because I accidently fell asleep very early. I was exhausted because the christmas puddings were only done at 3am.🙈 That will teach me to not pay attention to the time before I start mixing. I was going to write about how excited I was because it was my last day of work for the year. It has been a long year with many ups and downs. I am grateful that I have made it through and especially for the lessons, the love, the people who have entered my life and for those who have left. It has been a good year overall.

I picked up my Christmas cake from my niece today. I buy one from her every year because she is a talented baker. This year she decorated it differently. It is so beautiful. I haven’t been able to capture how beautiful the shimmer effect is but I hope you get the idea in this little video. It was definitely one of the highlights of my day! Thank you Courtney! The other highlight was seeing her adorable son! He is such a happy little soul. She and her husband have done such a wonderful job raising him thus far.

That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me on this little journey through December. I appreciate your support. I hope you all have yourselves a very merry Christmas🎵🎶🎵
