“Feel your intentions in your heart. Feel not what your mind tells you, but what your heart tells you. Rather than serve the fake gods of your mind, serve your heart, the real God. You will not find God in your intellect. Divine Intelligence is in the heart”
Gary Zukav (Seat of the Soul)
In the The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho also writes that “the heart knows”. When I read it, I felt it to be true and so I accepted it. Since then, I have made a conscious effort to be more aware of where my leads me especially when dealing with other people. The times I get it right, the outcomes are beautiful to behold. The heart knows…
On a different note. I have just completed the Seat of the Soul and have shared my lessons and impressions in a previous blog post which you can find here
This book was recommended to me by a colleague at work. She kept repeating that Oprah said it changed the way she viewed the world and herself (she actually does say this in her preface to the book). I was intrigued.
It was the right book at the right time for me. It opened up wounds that I didn’t realise I had and helped me find the courage to acknowledge them so that I can move forward in my life. I cannot begin to tell you the changes that have happened in my life just in this past week alone due to an adjustment in my perspective. Most are subtle but their impacts will be huge as time goes on. Doors are opening. My perceptions of people and the events around me are shifting. I am so grateful for these experiences. I can’t wait to see what each new day brings.
The chapter on the soul really affected me. I was with my mum when she passed a few months ago. I couldn’t help but go back to the hospital bed in my mind and re-experience my mum’s passing. It was painful and yet cathartic. It also brought home the reality that there is so much more to us than our bodies. Our bodies are just a vehicle really. It is such a profound concept to get one’s head around. I remember walking away from her bed that night knowing that the body that lay there was no longer her. Her energy had moved on. It felt so strange then and it still feels a little weird now as I write about it. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to be with her though and that she had her family with her to send her off.
The chapters on power and trust are also extremely useful. I will definitely be returning to this book from time to time. Some of it just makes sense and you feel that shift in your energy as you acknowledge it, while some needs to be processed before you can really make sense of it. There are a few bits where I zoned out so I need to go back to those 😜
All in all I found the book very thought-provoking and enlightening. I would highly recommend it if you find that you are searching for answers to some of life’s questions.
If you would like to get a copy for yourself, I bought the book from http://www.Loot.co.za as they were way cheaper than Takealot.com and Exclusive Books for the this book.
Next on my reading list:Becoming by Michelle Obama. It was a Christmas gift from my baby sister. I have been dying to read it but somehow felt that I wasn’t ready for it yet. I knew that once I started I would not want to stop. I also knew that I had to be in the right frame of mind to take in the lessons and just enjoy the journey.
Well, the time has come, and my intuition was right (of course). I won’t be putting this book anytime soon. Will share my views on it when I am done.
