A Month of Gratitude 2024: Day 13

Hello Hello. How has your Friday the 13th been? Mine has felt like a day of closure. Of course, closed/closing doors is also something to be grateful for.

Two Things I am Grateful for

  1. The squad that I have led for most of this year has been dissolved. It has been an amazing journey with a team that has a diverse set of skills and are just all-around awesome people. New relationships have been formed, and new skills have been gained. Most importantly, we have generated new information to help propel the business forward. I am pretty proud of what we have accomplished, and I am grateful that we had the opportunity that we did.
  2. I have been trying to upgrade my cellphone for the past week. I have never had an issue with walking into a cellphone store and just getting it done. Last week, they had no stock of the phone I wanted. They were supposed to order it and call me by Wednesday. I never heard back from that store. This evening, I visited another store. They had stock. I made an appointment to do the paperwork later, as requested. They were supposed to call me, and, you guessed it, they didn’t. I am taking it as a sign that either I should forget about that phone for now, or now is just not the time to be upgrading as a better deal will come my way in the near future. I am going to be grateful that this door has closed for now and trust that a better one will open instead.

One Moment of Joy

In all honesty, the fact that I have made it through another week is a moment of celebration in my books. I started this week aware that my team and I had a lot to accomplish and that there were certain balls that we could not drop. We did what we needed to do, so I am very proud of my team and myself.

I will leave you with pic of one of the cats that have adopted me. I call him Fred. He is a feisty young cat who can be a bit of a bully. This evening, I caught him squeezing himself onto my chair he is not allowed on and then proceeding to have a good nap. He was not impressed when I woke him. 😜

Thanks for popping by. Let me know what you have been grateful for today.

Bye for now.

A Month of Gratitude 2024: Day 3

Hello Hello! Three days into December already! Before we know it, it will be Christmas. One good thing about reaching December is that I don’t have to see another Black Friday ad until next year. For that, I am definitely grateful! 😅. Let’s see what else is on today’s gratitude list.

Two Things I Am Grateful For

  1. As I was putting the finishing touches on a quantitative test questionnaire today, I felt very grateful that I still get to do the things I love for a living. About twenty years ago, I sat across from our Consumer Insights Manager at the time and was in awe. I decided there and then that I wanted to do what she did. It sounded fascinating, and I wanted to be as good at it as she sounded. I then attended my first focus group and later prepared for my first product quantitative test, and I was hooked. I knew that I wanted to be a Consumer Insights Manager, which is exactly what I am today. I was a product formulator at the time of making the decision. God is good!
  2. If you have been following my blog for the last two years, you will know all about the feral cat family that has adopted my son and me. One of my favourites is the youngest. I think she thinks my house is a thoroughfare as part of a game she seems to play. Every night, she cries at the window. I let her in. She runs straight to the front door for me to let her out. About 5 minutes later, there she will be… crying at the window once again. She is such a character. I am so grateful that her mother chose to trust us with her kittens. They bring a lot of joy into our home.

One Source of Joy

My simple pleasure for the day was savouring an ice cream at work. It was an Ola Choc Pie. It used to be my favourite as a kid. And yes, I should not be eating ice cream but life is for the living so why not spoil myself ever so often.

I will leave you with a quote from Brené Brown as a reminder to appreciate the moment you find yourself in.

    I Wish I understood Meow

    Bloganuary writing prompt
If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be?

Hi There. I have missed two bloganuary posts this weekend. 😱 I was on holiday, and I was so exhausted at the end of those two days. I will acknowledge it and, accept it and move on swiftly. Right, now that I have that out of my system, on to today’s topic. I think I would turn the topic around and would wish I could understand their meows

Mamacita: 1st of her name. Mother of Gorgeous Kittens. + one of her kittens

Sometimes, it is clear that they really need to get me to do something for them, but I don’t understand Meow, and I get so frustrated. The mother cat is very good at using her eyes to get me to follow her so that she can show me something. She is so good at communicating that she even got a neighbour to help her look for a kitten when it went missing. He was so shocked that he understood her. Meow Meow is good at letting me know that there is another cat at the door that wants to come in, or that a kitten has messed in the house or, if ask him where one of the cats are, he will alert me when they come in. He is such an incredible soul.  Russell is nauseatingly good at letting me know when it is suppertime 😂

The other cats haven’t figured out how to get through to me. They will look at me and meow, hoping I will understand. I will check their food and water, but that is seldom the issue. It is so clear that they are trying to get me to do something, but I have no idea what. So, if I could understand one thing about my pet, it would definitely be Meow.

If you had to flip the prompt around, what would your response be?

Thanks for popping by. Be blessed.
