A Month of Gratitude 2024: Day 11

Hello there! I have to admit that today I am tired. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, though, and thankfully, it is clearly not a train. Two more sleeps until Friday!!

Two Things I am Grateful For

  1. Around this time last I was so excited because I had been invited to lead a squad in the business. It was quite an honour and I was so nervous. Today I heard that my squad would be dissolved. I am really nothing unhappy about it. I am grateful. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead an amazing team and to learn from them. I am also grateful for the opportunity away. Leading two teams was no joke. It took it’s toll on me. I take my hat off to Senior managers and directors who have to lead more than one team. It is an interesting challenge.
  2. My son received his school report today. It was not a pretty sight, and I was disappointed to see his marks. However, he did pass, and for that, I am grateful. Two more years of high school to go, and then I will be the mother of a university student!

I took my friend’s son off her hands for a short while at work today. School is out, and she didn’t have an au pair for him today, so she had to bring him to work. He is pretty shy, but he knows me, so we took a walk to the Zen Garden to watch the Koi swim and have a look around. Unfortunately, the monkeys were out in the garden, so we left sooner than I had hoped we would need to. They scare us. I had forgotten how much energy a four-year-old had. It was challenging keeping up with him…lol. It was great to spend time with him and to pay forward helping a fellow mum out in the office. I had so many people help me when my son was little, and I was forced to bring him into the office.

Thanks for popping by. I hope you enjoyed the read. Let me know what you are grateful for today in the comments.

Bye for now.

A Month of Gratitude 2024: Day 10

Hello hello! How is it going in your corner of the world? It is so very hot and humid in Durban right now. I think most of South Africa is experiencing a heat wave, but that’s December (or Dezemba as it is affectionately known in South Africa) for you.

Two Things I am Grateful For

  1. This morning I woke up to dry taps! 😱. There was a burst pipe on a nearby road. Dry taps on a hot and humid morning that is also an office day…not fun at all. Thankfully, there was water when I got home, so I got to enjoy a cool shower. Can you imagine how grateful I am to have running water again? There’s nothing like a little deprivation to make you appreciate what you have, don’t you think?
  2. I was scolling through Instagram earlier and came across an inspirational page for women. The page left me feeling energised and bursting with confidence. Growing up, I always thought boys had it better than girls so I wanted to be a boy. That only really changed after I had my son. I started enjoying being a woman and today I am extremely grateful and absolutely delighted to be one. I love every aspect of being feminine. There is not only beauty in it but there is also strength. I now appreciate our differences to men and celebrate them. Being a woman is a blessing and I am grateful to be one.

We found my son’s lost textbooks! It was a team effort between him and I but we eventually found them in a bag that we had both looked through previously. Don’t ask because I don’t know how we both missed it. 🫣. We only found it when I began transferring the bag’s contents to another. We were ready to do the dance of joy when we found them!🤣

On that joyous note, I shall love and leave you. Thanks for popping by. What have you been grateful for today?

Bye for now.🌼

A Month of Gratitude 2024: Day 9

Hello There. Another Monday done and dusted. I can sleep well tonight knowing that I have completed everything I had set out to do. The outcomes I leave in God’s hands although I will be praying that it all works out ok.

Two Things I am Grateful For

  1. Today, I am very grateful for my colleagues and team, who have helped me get things done to the best of my ability. I have come to realise that executing is actually not my nature. I have always thought that I am just a procrastinator, but it turns out that I am more of a thinker than a doer, so I surround myself with doers. How do I know? I did Clifton’s StrengthFinder 2.0 a few years ago, and execution is not in my top ten strengths. I do get things done eventually, but it is almost always at the last minute. Apparently, that is a personality trait as well. So, I am very grateful for my colleagues and team who are stronger executioners and help em get things done.
  2. I am also grateful for my home. It’s pretty small, but it works. It’s a two-storey place and my favourite place to be during the day is downstairs. It is the coolest area of the house because it doesn’t get the morning sun, and if I keep the fan on and the doors and windows closed, I also seem to keep the humidity out. What a pleasure! Today, I opened the door to let in a cat. It was like a sauna out there. I closed that door so fast. I am really grateful that I can work from home comfortably on hot days with just a fan.

I have an oats addiction. Weird, right? When I work from home, one of my greatest pleasures is making myself a bowl of oats. I have some yoghurt beforehand to help with the glucose spike, and then I enjoy my oats with chia seeds and blueberries. Today was a work-from-home day, so I got to enjoy my bowl of oats for breakfast. I was in heaven.

That’s it from me for today. How was your Monday? Is there anything you are feeling grateful for today?

Bye For Now.
