“No friendship is an accident. ” ― O. Henry

Hello there!  Wouldn’t you agree with that quote?  I don’t believe any of our friendships are accidents.  Every one I have had over the years has positively impacted my life, even if I didn’t think it at the time.

Two Things I Am Grateful For

  1. My very good friend Megan.  Since God has blessed me with her friendship,  I have done nothing but outgrow my fears and enjoy new experiences. Thank you, Megan.  This afternoon, she invited me to dinner.  We had a great meal at a Greek restaurant we had not visited before.  We also shared dishes that we had never had before, like mousaka.  It was also a fantastic way to celebrate the official start of our leave!
  2. My colleague was offering complimentary tickets to a rugby match.  My son has often spoken about wanting to go to a game so I took my colleague up on his offer.  I am really grateful for my colleague’s generosity.  My son gets to tick off another new experience this holiday.

One Moment of Joy

Part of our meal this evening was roast chicken.  It tasted like my mother’s roast chicken.  I was so surprised.  That first bite transported me back to my mum’s house for a split second.  I could even feel her presence.  It was an amazing experience.  It also reminded me how much I miss her.  I am not sad, though.  I am grateful to have felt her presence, even though it was so brief.

That’s it from me for today.  Thanks for popping in.

Bye for now

Celebrating 2023: A Month of Gratitude-Day 17

I recount a cherished evening spent at the annual Trail of Lights with my long-time friend, Johnine.

Hello hello! Welcome back!

I had such a wonderful evening with my best friend this evening. We visited the annual Trail of Lights held at the Durban Botanical Gardens. The weather was perfect and the company even more so.

We have attended this event every year together with our sons. I really look forward to it. This year, our sons dumped us for the Liverpool vs Man U game! We were shocked but I guess it’s a sign that they are growing up now. We didn’t let them stop us though.

Today I am so grateful for my friend, Johnine. One morning in 1987, I was on my way to school when I heard my name being called by a girl behind me. It was Johnnie. We had never spoken before and for whatever reason, she called out to me and we started walking to school together. What started out as a walk to school has become a walk through life together. She was even with me in the theatre when I gave birth to my son. I am so blessed to still call her my best friend after all these years.  She is an amazing human being who has a very pure heart and the strongest faith in God of anyone I know. And let me tell you…God has her back 24/7/365! All I can say is: “Thank you God for blessing me with her friendship.”

I’ll leave you with a few pics of the beautiful lights that we had the pleasure of viewing this evening as well a pic of the build-a-bear, Johnine spoilt me with. I have decided to call her Bella-Amour.

Thanks for stopping by! Be blessed!

Month of Gratitude: Day 2

🌼Today I am grateful for my friends. I am grateful for Vee in particular today. Last night she let me rant and rave about an issue that had cropped up. She then calmly gave me a very useful bit of advice. It really made me sit back and assess myself, the situation and my role in allowing it. Today was a new day and what felt like a new me. Thank You Vee. 🙏💐🌼

What are you grateful for today?
