A Month of Gratitude – Day 2 2025

Hi there! So I was just scrolling through my photos and it was a reminder of what a good year it was.

I have had so many great experiences this year. I got to capture the sunrise over Ballito on an autumn morning and watch the moon’s eclipse with my son. I got to watch my son do what he loves best, play soccer. Through my job, I travelled around the country promoting our latest product launch, and we appeared on TV twice. I got to meet and be inspired by the stories of two of our local sporting heroes, Dricus du Plessis, our ex UFC champ, and Andile Dlamini, who is our South African Women’s Soccer Team’s (Banyana Banyana) goalkeeper. I also got to give back through the Dove Self-Esteem project. We visited a school to remind grade 8 girls that they are beautiful as they are.

All pics except the blood were taken by the author. The blood moon pic was taken by my son.

These are just a few of the many moments that made up a year that I can look back on with pride, joy, and gratitude.

What are some of the moments that stand out for you?

“I am convinced that the jealous, the angry, the bitter and the egotistical are the first to race to the top of mountains. A confident person enjoys the journey, the people they meet along the way and sees life not as a competition. They reach the summit last because they know God isn’t at the top waiting for them. He is down below helping His followers to understand that the view is glorious where ever you stand.”

My cousin and I were just discussing something similar yesterday as we were greeted with the most beautiful sunset while driving home. Everyday we are blessed with the most beautiful views that God has provided and the most amazing people. We are often so caught up in our own thoughts or so busy on our gadgets that we fail to notice it all. We get so caught up in comparing ourselves to the person standing next to, in front of, or behind us, that we forget to see the beauty in them and acknowledge and honour that. We don’t even do it for the person we see in the mirror. Today, and everyday henceforth, I encourage you to stop and take a moment to notice and bless the beauty of the world around you and inside of you and those around you.
